The Nordstroms N Sale is one of the biggest department sale stores of the year. They mark down a large amount of fall clothing before fall begins, so you can save and then wear. In previous years, I snagged all sorts of stuff at great prices… stuff I didn’t need. For sales, I’ll look at my closet first and think about the things that 1) I realistically wear most often (workout clothing, lounge wear, sweaters/sweatshirts) and 2) things I could truly use (maybe a pair of shoes). There are a ton of great items on sale but I wanted to focus on the ones I know I’ll wear most.
I’ve purchased several of these over the years and find them to be very functional (keep you warm but not wet if you get sweaty). Highly recommend for outdoor runners of if you live/workout in a colder climate.
The world is a crazy place right now, so I’ve been trying to be proactively positive. I once heard on a podcast that our default state is negative and that to experience a positive, happy mindset and life, we must work at it. Well, I’ve been working at it lately and here are the 7 things I’m doing to stay positive and happy.
1. POSITIVE READS
The more I fill my head with positive, uplifting thoughts, the more likely I am to feel that way. Here are a few of my tried and true positive reads.
This book focuses on living in the moment and getting out of your own head. The ways this book helped me practice that and become aware of the power of now… wow. I still have a few takeaways from this book that come into play on a daily basis. For example, there’s one part in the book about that teaches you how to feel the life force within your body and I swear I can do that which instantly elevates my vibe (again, weird wording but don’t think about the words just live it).
There’s another part about how when you encounter situations that don’t feel good, you let them move through you to ease the pain. To this day, I still visualize this when I grapple with something that is upsetting or sad… and I think about learning that tool in this book.
The Rhythm of Life: Living Everyday with Passion and Purpose| here
This was one of the first personal development books I ever read. I remember it being life changing, and I recommend it so often to others.
This one has a cult like following. For me, it was a bit of a different read, yet I find myself rereading it. Some of the points have been very freeing for me, especially if you’re someone who holds onto stuff.
Unfu*k Yourself: Get Out of Your Head and into Your Life | here
A no nonsense book that will make you want to do and be your best.
You Are A Badass: How to Stop Doubting Your Greatness and Start Living an Awesome Life | here
One of my past favorites. This book sets the foundation for personal growth in a simple, easy-to-digest resource. It hits all the main points you’ll see every successful person talking about from setting goals to visualization and believing in yourself. Even though I read tons of other books with a similar message, I enjoyed the style of this book and I plan to reread it as a refresher.
Get Out of Your Head: Stopping the Spiral of Toxic Thoughts | here
I just got this book in the mail, so I haven’t yet started it. It came highly recommended from several different people, so I can’t wait to start.
For guided mediation, I youtube “10 minute guided mediation ____ (for anxiety, positivity, etc.) There are some amazing ones on there and they’re free. I couple that with some things below.

If you know me, you know I listen to at least two podcasts per day.
My favorites: The Skinny Confidential Him + Her (best interviews!), Ed Mylett (personal development) and The Morning Toast (for “news” and girl chat).
I can’t get through a day without popping in my AirPods at least 5x: music during workouts, podcasts while doing laundry, audio book while running errands, etc. I also have THIS silicone pink case for protection.
I got a variety of these. I’m sure you’ve seen them around. Pro- they’re amazing and I’ve had mine for 2.5 years now with no issues. Con- they’re pricey. It’s a justified splurge even if you just get a few for items that can lose freshness fast.
Also, HERE is exactly how I organized my Pantry + Free Pantry Label Downloads that I use on my continuers.
Probably my favorite organization item. I have these all over my house. It hangs over the door yet still allows the door to close correctly AND its so discrete. I used these on my pantry door. laundry room door, and almost every closet door. The compartments hold a ton – kids shoes, accessories laundry products, food packets/snack, and so much more.
These drawer organizers are amazing. I have them in a variety of drawers from my kitchen to my bathroom and in my vanity/make up drawer. They’re versatile and I love that things don’t shift around in them easily.
This tupperware lid organizer is a must. No matter how hard I try, my tupperware lids are always all over the place. This organizer is adjustable and works well without taking up a crazy amount of space.
The further I get into 2020, the more I buy pajama and lounge wear sets. I’m totally one of those people who feels better when I get dressed… even if it’s getting dressed into sweats. I rounded up 20 sets from Amazon pajama sets that you will want to wear all day. And, you’ll look cute doing so!
With many of us doing more at home workouts, I thought it would be helpful to share some of my home gym essentials. They’re all from Amazon Prime so you can build your home gym in no times. These home gym essentials can be used for all types of workouts, and, of course, I can help you pick a workout plan best suited for you here.
MY HOME GYM ESSENTIALS
These are all items that I have and use regularly in my home gym. They also happen to all be available on Amazon prime, so you can build your home gym in no time.
Dumbbells usually cost $1 per pound. Oddly enough, if you click the pair it’s more expensive than buying 2 singles?! Anyway, if I could only have 1 dumbbell set, I find the 10 lb option to be the most useful for both upper and lower body exercises. I also like pre-weighted dumbbells in 5s and 15s.
Without a doubt, this is the most useful option for dumbbells. You can build the dumbbells to be lighter ~5lbs up to ~20 lbs each dumbbell so it definitely allows for a greater weight training challenge at home and is the most cost effective option. This is the brand I’ve used for years and love!
Bands simulate a cable machine that would be found at a gym. The constant tension on the muscles is very effective. I like this particular set because of all the accessories/attachments and the door anchor!
A bench is a versatile piece of equipment allowing for incline presses, step ups, hip thrusts and so much more. This one in particular also has leg extension and leg curl options, which acts as 2 popular pieces of gym equipment.
An adjustable barbell set is something I got after a few years and it’s made one of the bigger impacts in my home gym. It allowed me to do a lot more exercises. I like the adjustability so I can do things like bicep curls and squats. Also, these adjustable options are lighter and shorter as compared to an olympic barbell, making them very versatile.
FYI – the set my husband got me for Christmas 2 years ago was both a dumbbell and barbell set for only $85. It’s not sold online, but I wanted to show where he got it (here)!
If your budget allows and if you are interested in heavy weight training, an olympic barbell is a big deal. When I first got mine, I really felt as though I could do a gym style workout right at home, especially with bench press, deadlifts and squats!
I suggest a 10 lb and 15 lb set of bumper plates (they’re made of rubber so more home gym friendly)
This one has both a bench and a rack. At this price, I can’t tell you how impressed I am with the quality. You may recognize this one because it’s the exact one I have and we’ve had it for 5+ years now. The rack allows you to use your olympic barbell for benching, squats and so much more! You can also obviously move the bench around and use it on its own.
A super fun, at home cardio option (and my 2 1/2 year old thinks this is his toy so it’s really a win. This is not only an amazing cardio workout but also always gets my core sore. The folding design makes it more convenient.
As an avid Amazon buyer, I’ve purchased my fair share of items, but there are a few items that are completely brilliant. Here is a list of 24 of the best Amazon products that you never would have thought you needed..until you see them. All of these have tons of outstanding reviews. Be prepared to be amazed.. I sure was!
Create your own spa day from the bath tub with the bath tub cabby. Pour yourself your favorite drink, bring a good book or your phone/i-Pad to watch a show or listen to a podcast, and completely relax.
I love my pantry and if you follow along with me you know I have most things labeled in containers and super organized. This is great for nuts, cereals, snacks, candy, you name it…It’s shatterproof and great for little kids.
Please tell me you’ve had the Starbucks Strawberries n Cream frappuccino from Starbucks at some point in time. It’s fruity, creamy and was my favorite treat as a teenager. From a taste standpoint, this drink reminds me of that! This is one of the most popular Starbucks summer drinks: the Guava Passionfruit Drink. Personally, I love it because it’s refreshing and caffeine free. This version still contains 19 grams of carbs but it’s HALF the carbs/calories of the original, so be sure you follow the ordering instructions below. It’s a macro-friendly, delicious drink.
HOW TO ORDER:
Order a GRANDE Guava Pineapple Drink
Request LIGHT Guava Juice (this isn’t a lighter alternative just less juice than what is normally used)
Request 1 pump of pineapple ginger syrup
Calories: 110 cals
Protein: 1 g
Caffeine: 0 mg – (CAFFEINE FREE!)

I’m always looking for a dessert option that everyone will devour. There’s nothing like guests or your own family gushing over a meal you made. Still, I am a conscious woman and mama, so I always like to feel good about what I’m serving. This Healthy Apple Crisp Crumble recipe is one that contains ingredients I love while being ridiculously delicious. It’s macro friendly, meaning you can have a servings and easily fit it into your macros/portions to enjoy on track. Most importantly, no one will even notice it’s a “healthier” version. Enjoy!

In honor of National Bikini Day, I thought it would be fun to share some of my favorite bikini finds lately as well as one pieces. If I’m being honest, I wear a one piece way more often lately- it’s just more functional as a mom and I think the styles are so cute. Also, per usual, I love a good deal, so these are the best swimsuits for summer with a ridiculously good price tag.
In our home, we make fried rice a full meal and we enjoy this recipe multiple times per week. This healthy cauliflower chicken fried rice is super easy, fast to make and beyond delicious. Enjoy this meal guilt-free as it’s packed with protein, nutritious and lower carb than the traditional version. Plus, my husband and two little boys go crazy for this meal.
