The Best Workout Clothes at the Nordstroms Sale

The Nordstroms N Sale is one of the biggest department sale stores of the year. They mark down a large amount of fall clothing before fall begins, so you can save and then wear. In previous years, I snagged all sorts of stuff at great prices… stuff I didn’t need. For sales, I’ll look at my closet first and think about the things that 1) I realistically wear most often (workout clothing, lounge wear, sweaters/sweatshirts) and 2) things I could truly use (maybe a pair of shoes). There are a ton of great items on sale but I wanted to focus on the ones I know I’ll wear most.

WORKOUT TOPS

BEYOND YOGA SQUARE NECK CROP TANK

This is the brand of “bramis” (bra camis) that I wear all of the time. They’re on the pricey side but amazing quality, so it’s a good sale option if you like these.

FREE PEOPLE UNDERTOW TANK

I love twist front tanks especially paired with high waisted leggings.

ALO MOVEMENT SPORTS BRA

I love all things Alo Yoga and this pink color was too cute (matching leggings below)

NIKE CREWNECK SWEATSHIRT

if I’m being real… my fall wardrobe will probably be all things comfy and cozy (probably worn on the couch); I’ll probably wear this lots!

FREE PEOPLE MOON RISING LONG SLEEVE TOP

again with the clothing I’ll likely be wearing. I thought this one would be cute with leggings or jeans

NIKE HALF ZIP RUNNING TOP

I’ve purchased several of these over the years and find them to be very functional (keep you warm but not wet if you get sweaty). Highly recommend for outdoor runners of if you live/workout in a colder climate.

ZELLA LONGLINE SPORTS BRA

I really like “longline” bras. They extend a bit lower on the rib cabe, which, in my opinion, is much more comfortable (and cuter with leggings)

NIKE INDY SPORTS BRA

Another Nike option that I’ve worn and loved for years.

WORKOUT BOTTOMS

ALO HIGH WAIST MOTO LEGGINGS

These are one of my all time favorite leggings. The moto detail is fun and flattering and Alo Yoga waistbands are one of the best.

ALO AIRLIFT HIGH WAIST LEGGINGS

I wear this legging style so often. The finish is the most suble sheen that gives a high end look while being smoothing. This color is too good.

ZELLA LIVE IN HIGH WAIST LEGGINGS

People rave about this brand.

NIKE KNIT PALAZZO PANTS

I want these pants so badly… I feel like I could wear them ultra comfy around the house or dress it up with a fitted top. Going to order in the oatmeal color!

NIKE ONE CAPRI LEGGINGS

These are such a classic and great price.

ZELLA MAMASANA MATERNITY LEGGINGS

Again, with the brand that people rave about but a bump friendly option.

NIKE ONE DRI-FIT SHORTS

Biker shorts are a great option for both gym looks and everyday looks. I love them paired with an oversized tee.

NIKE TEMPO DRI-FIT SHORTS

these shorts are a classic that I’ve loved and worn for years

WORKOUT SHOES

ADIDAS SWIFT RUN SNEAKER

I own 4 pairs of these and have raved about them forever; if they don’t all sell out… this is a great sneaker pick

NIKE AIR MAX 270 SNEAKER

I would love to try these!

ADIDAS ULTRABOOST RUNNING SHOE

Another tried and true sneaker I love. Hoping these don’t all sell out!

NIKE INFINITY RUN FLYNIT RUNNING SHOE

ACCESSORIES

LONGCHAMP LE PILAGE EXPANDABLE TOTE

I’ve worn Longchamp bags since high school. They fold up so you can pack them or store them. This expandable option is super cute… click to look at it more.

SWEATY BETTY ALL SPORT BACKPACK

Every since a diaper bag backpack, I’ve loved backpack options of all types.

LOUNGE

SPANX FAUX LEATHER LEGGINGS

I wanted to share some equally comfy equally chic options too. These are one of the hottest sale items at a crazy price.

BP. FAUX LEATHER LEGGINGS

A similar look but even less expensive.

PATAGONIA QUARTER ZIP BETTER SWEATER JACKET

I wear my Patagonia pull overs all the time and have had some for 6+ years (that still look great!)

PATAGONIA FLEECE PULLOVER

Another Patagonia option I love

7 Things I’m Doing to Stay Positive + Happy

The world is a crazy place right now, so I’ve been trying to be proactively positive. I once heard on a podcast that our default state is negative and that to experience a positive, happy mindset and life, we must work at it. Well, I’ve been working at it lately and here are the 7 things I’m doing to stay positive and happy.

1. POSITIVE READS

The more I fill my head with positive, uplifting thoughts, the more likely I am to feel that way. Here are a few of my tried and true positive reads.

Power of Now | here

This book focuses on living in the moment and getting out of your own head. The ways this book helped me practice that and become aware of the power of now… wow. I still have a few takeaways from this book that come into play on a daily basis. For example, there’s one part in the book about that teaches you how to feel the life force within your body and I swear I can do that which instantly elevates my vibe (again, weird wording but don’t think about the words just live it).

There’s another part about how when you encounter situations that don’t feel good, you let them move through you to ease the pain. To this day, I still visualize this when I grapple with something that is upsetting or sad… and I think about learning that tool in this book.

The Rhythm of Life: Living Everyday with Passion and Purpose| here

This was one of the first personal development books I ever read. I remember it being life changing, and I recommend it so often to others.

The Game of Life and How to Play It | here

This one has a cult like following. For me, it was a bit of a different read, yet I find myself rereading it. Some of the points have been very freeing for me, especially if you’re someone who holds onto stuff.

Unfu*k Yourself: Get Out of Your Head and into Your Life | here

A no nonsense book that will make you want to do and be your best.

You Are A Badass: How to Stop Doubting Your Greatness and Start Living an Awesome Life | here

One of my past favorites. This book sets the foundation for personal growth in a simple, easy-to-digest resource. It hits all the main points you’ll see every successful person talking about from setting goals to visualization and believing in yourself. Even though I read tons of other books with a similar message, I enjoyed the style of this book and I plan to reread it as a refresher.

Get Out of Your Head: Stopping the Spiral of Toxic Thoughts | here

I just got this book in the mail, so I haven’t yet started it. It came highly recommended from several different people, so I can’t wait to start.

2.GUIDED MEDITATION/JOURNALING

For guided mediation, I youtube “10 minute guided mediation ____ (for anxiety, positivity, etc.) There are some amazing ones on there and they’re free. I couple that with some things below.

Soft Cover Spiral Notebook Journal – 2 Pack | here

Let your pen go where it goes.

Daily Rituals: Positive Affirmations to Attract Love, Happiness, and Peace| here

The Daily Stoic Journal: 366 Days of Writing and Reflection on the Art of Living | here

The Confident Woman Devotional: 365 Daily Inspirations | here

Himalayan Sphere Salt Lamp Bowl with Aromatherapy (here)

This can really set the mood when you’re reading, journaling, meditating, etc.

3. PODCASTS

If you know me, you know I listen to at least two podcasts per day.

My favorites: The Skinny Confidential Him + Her (best interviews!), Ed Mylett (personal development) and The Morning Toast (for “news” and girl chat).

AirPods (here)

I can’t get through a day without popping in my AirPods at least 5x: music during workouts, podcasts while doing laundry, audio book while running errands, etc. I also have THIS silicone pink case for protection.

AirPods Silicone Carrying Case | (here)

This case is great for airpods and even has a clip to hook on your gym bag, purse, keys, etc.

4. TIME OUTDOORS

One of the most uplifting things for me has always been getting outside. Fresh air. Sunshine. It doesn’t matter what I’m doing but being outdoors lifts my mood.

Wine Picnic Table | here

Anthony and I have been doing at home date nights and this makes it fun.

Waterproof Picnic/Beach Blanket | here

We’ve been taking the boys to every park near us and this is awesome for picnics, the beach and anywhere you’d like a waterproof blanket.

Kids Fold Away Baseball Tee  | here

I got this for Leo and both of my boys have had the best time. It’s great quality. The height adjusts. And, I love you can take it apart to store easily.

5. PLANTS/GARDENING

This is definitely a hobby I want to continue with. I love planting, gardening, watering. It’s so cathartic.

Garden Genie Gloves (here

How cool are these!? They’re waterproof and have claws on the gloves so they’re made for digging and planting.

Classic Urn Planter (here

If you’re going to be planting at all, these urn planters have a similar look to mine. I am constantly asked where mine are from (they’re several years old) but here’s a similar option.

5 Tier Garden Planter (here

I thought this would be so fun for herbs and to get my kids involved. Plus, so cute!

6. DECLUTTERING/ORGANIZATION/CLEANING

Here is a blog post including my family house cleaning schedule + a printable checklist.

OXO Good Grips Container Set| here

I got a variety of these. I’m sure you’ve seen them around. Pro- they’re amazing and I’ve had mine for 2.5 years now with no issues. Con- they’re pricey. It’s a justified splurge even if you just get a few for items that can lose freshness fast.

Also, HERE is exactly how I organized my Pantry + Free Pantry Label Downloads that I use on my continuers.

Over The Door Hangers here

Probably my favorite organization item. I have these all over my house. It hangs over the door yet still allows the door to close correctly AND its so discrete. I used these on my pantry door. laundry room door, and almost every closet door. The compartments hold a ton – kids shoes, accessories laundry products, food packets/snack, and so much more.

Drawer Organizer (Set of 6) |here

These drawer organizers are amazing. I have them in a variety of drawers from my kitchen to my bathroom and in my vanity/make up drawer. They’re versatile and I love that things don’t shift around in them easily.

Fridge and Freezer Organizer Bins |here

A clean and organized  fridge makes grocery shopping and meal planning so much easier. You’re able to see exactly what you have and what you’re needing.

Tupperware Lid Organizer |here

This tupperware lid organizer is a must. No matter how hard I try, my tupperware lids are always all over the place. This organizer is adjustable and works well without taking up a crazy amount of space.

Baskets with Liner here

I have these all over my house. I’m a big fan of baskets because you can toss stuff in them yet it still looks clean and tidy.

7. WARM BATH, PJs + TV/MOVIE

This is my go-to evening routine. I love a simple evening at home. I always take a nice shower or bath, get into PJs that make me feel fabulous and turn on a show.

Dr. Teal’s Foaming Bath Epsom Salt, Sooth + Sleep Lavender | here

I have enough Dr. Teal’s products to last me a lifetime but they are the best

Bath Tub Caddy Tray | here

Create your own spa day from the bath tub with the bath tub cabby. Pour yourself your favorite drink, bring a good book or your phone/iPad to watch a show or listen to a podcast, and completely relax.

My Home Gym Equipment Essentials (all Amazon Prime)

With many of us doing more at home workouts, I thought it would be helpful to share some of my home gym essentials. They’re all from Amazon Prime so you can build your home gym in no times. These home gym essentials can be used for all types of workouts, and, of course, I can help you pick a workout plan best suited for you here.

MY HOME GYM ESSENTIALS

These are all items that I have and use regularly in my home gym. They also happen to all be available on Amazon prime, so you can build your home gym in no time.

10 LB DUMBBELLS ($17 – here)

Dumbbells usually cost $1 per pound. Oddly enough, if you click the pair it’s more expensive than buying 2 singles?! Anyway, if I could only have 1 dumbbell set, I find the 10 lb option to be the most useful for both upper and lower body exercises. I also like pre-weighted dumbbells in 5s and 15s.

ADJUSTABLE DUMBBELL SET ($52 – here)

Without a doubt, this is the most useful option for dumbbells. You can build the dumbbells to be lighter ~5lbs up to ~20 lbs each dumbbell so it definitely allows for a greater weight training challenge at home and is the most cost effective option. This is the brand I’ve used for years and love!

RESISTANCE BAND SET ($25 – here)

Bands simulate a cable machine that would be found at a gym. The constant tension on the muscles is very effective. I like this particular set because of all the accessories/attachments and the door anchor!

ADJUSTABLE BENCH ($69 – here)

A bench is a versatile piece of equipment allowing for incline presses, step ups, hip thrusts and so much more. This one in particular also has leg extension and leg curl options, which acts as 2 popular pieces of gym equipment.

ADJUSTABLE BARBELL SET ($111 – here)

An adjustable barbell set is something I got after a few years and it’s made one of the bigger impacts in my home gym. It allowed me to do a lot more exercises. I like the adjustability so I can do things like bicep curls and squats. Also, these adjustable options are lighter and shorter as compared to an olympic barbell, making them very versatile.

FYI – the set my husband got me for Christmas 2 years ago was both a dumbbell and barbell set for only $85. It’s not sold online, but I wanted to show where he got it (here)!

OLYMPIC BARBELL ($101 – here) + PLATES ($59+ – here)

If your budget allows and if you are interested in heavy weight training, an olympic barbell is a big deal. When I first got mine, I really felt as though I could do a gym style workout right at home, especially with bench press, deadlifts and squats!

I suggest a 10 lb and 15 lb set of bumper plates (they’re made of rubber so more home gym friendly)

BENCH + RACK ($189 – here)

This one has both a bench and a rack. At this price, I can’t tell you how impressed I am with the quality. You may recognize this one because it’s the exact one I have and we’ve had it for 5+ years now. The rack allows you to use your olympic barbell for benching, squats and so much more! You can also obviously move the bench around and use it on its own.

JUMP ROPE ($8 – here)

This most inexpensive, most challenging cardio.  A jump rope can be easily stored. You can take it anywhere. AND, it will kick your butt every time.

TRAMPOLINE ($48 – here):

A super fun, at home cardio option (and my 2 1/2 year old thinks this is his toy so it’s really a win. This is not only an amazing cardio workout but also always gets my core sore. The folding design makes it more convenient.

MINI BANDS ($16 – here):

These help intensify lower body exercises (especially the glutes!) and can be creatively used for total body training. I love using these!

LOOP BANDS ($13 – here)

These are a go-to resistance band of mine that are very versatile. I have both the purple and orange resistance levels. You can wrap it around things to create an at home cable machine too!

20 LB KETTLEBELL ($24 – here)

A kettlebell isn’t something I use often but it is nice to have both for weighted movements and cardio. I find the 20lb option very useful!

HEALTHY STARBUCKS DRINK ORDER: Guava Passionfruit Drink

Please tell me you’ve had the Starbucks Strawberries n Cream frappuccino from Starbucks at some point in time. It’s fruity, creamy and was my favorite treat as a teenager. From a taste standpoint, this drink reminds me of that! This is one of the most popular Starbucks summer drinks: the Guava Passionfruit Drink. Personally, I love it because it’s refreshing and caffeine free. This version still contains 19 grams of carbs but it’s HALF the carbs/calories of the original, so be sure you follow the ordering instructions below. It’s a macro-friendly, delicious drink.
