Total Body Circuit – 11/9

To shock my body, every once in awhile, I like to do a total body
circuit, hitting almost every muscle group in one workout. I like to do one movement per muscle group, keep my reps high, keep the workout at a quick pace, and integrate a
little bit of cardio.

Total Body Circuit:
– lat pull downs (back – lats)
-alternating dumbbell curls (biceps)
-wide stance push ups (chest)
-dumbbell kickbacks (triceps)
-shoulder dumbbell press (shoulders)
-walking dumbbell lunges (legs)
-kickbacks (glutes)
-sit ups (abs)

*All movements are 3-4 sets of 12-18reps, using lighter weights
*Between sets do either 20 jumping jacks, 10 burpees, or 30 seconds of toe touches on a step
*Between movements, go from one to the other – minimal rest, no cardio
*Try to stick with the order of these movements as they associate with assisting muscle groups
ENJOY 🙂

TIP OF THE DAY: Massages are a necessity not a luxury 😉 While I love massages for a spa/relaxation purpose, getting a deep tissue or athlete massage can significantly help with easing inflammation, improving blood flow, and relaxing tight muscles.  Over time athletes and avid gym-goers may experience chronic muscular tension, where adhesions (bands of painful, ridge tissue in muscles, tendons, and ligaments) are present: causing pain and a reduced range of motion. A deep tissue massage is designed to break down these adhesions in the muscles. Today, I treated myself to a 60minute deep tissue massage, which I will try to better keep up with; be sure to emphasize certain areas/muscles for the massage therapist to focus on. I feel completely relieved of muscle pain and hope to notice benefits in my workout!

Total body workout = whole body feeling strong and pumped 🙂
