My October Gym Bag

What a fun post – let’s make this a monthly regular! I swear I’m not a nosy person, but I do love knowing what other ladies are keeping in their gym bags. There are so many products on the market, and I’ve found personal recommendations are the best indicator of which of these products actually serve a beneficial purpose.

So, what’s in my bag this month…

(1) Emi Jay hair ties
I cannot get enough of these adorable hair ties. Not only do they claim to be gentler on your hair, but also they are just so darn cute. If you’re anything like me, your hair has seen its fair share of pony tail days – these hair bands a little added style and color to a classic pony; plus, they serve as cute bracelets!

(2) Polar heart rate monitor watch & band
I’m not too concerned with how many calories I burn during a workout, but I do like to know where my heart rate is if, for instance, I’m doing cardio with a target heart rate zone. The heart rate band/monitor fits on your chest right underneath the bust, and was very easy to get used to! The watch has displays including heart rate readings, calories burned, workout duration, etc. I have the FT4 model.

(3) iPod shuffle
This iPod shuffle holds just enough songs, but the greatest benefit is that it keeps me focused! Previously, I was using my iPhone for music, but found myself getting several text/phone call interruptions during my workout. I’ve developed great focus by keeping my phone in the locker room, clipping this small iPod right onto my clothing, and getting my sweat on!

(4) Beat headphones
Because what goes better with an itty bitty iPod than some badass headphones 😉 Beats by Dre Solo edition is my headphone of choice. I highly recommend getting a quality pair of headphones that fit comfortably; for me, that means over the ears! I used to spend the first 10 minutes of my workout struggling to untangle my headphone cords, so I love that these come with a nice case and cord holder! The killer bass is just an added bonus – it’s like a concert in just my ears 🙂

(5) Towel
I’m a self-diagnosed OCD germaphobe! In my eyes the gym looks like a pool of bacteria and germs, but I don’t let that stop me from getting in a killer workout. I not only use a towel to wipe the sweat away, but also lay it over any equipment that my skin comes in contact with (just be sure you know which side you use to wipe the skin and which side you use to touch the machines hehe). Some gyms offer towel services, but I always prefer my own!

I love that you posted your head phones! I was just thinking about this because I always have a hard time with the ones that go in your ears but I've never seen anyone with over the ear head phones working out. So awesome that I came across this just add I needed it!
