Whenever I get ready and apply even a little bit of make up, I feel more productive. Of course, I enjoy a day where I can peacefully apply a full make up look but my life as a mom, trying to quickly get ready before work and before my 2 kids need me means I need a quicker alternative. This look truly takes me 5 minutes or less. Here is my quick gym and lazy day make up tutorial.
STEP 1: CONCEALER IN 3 SPOTS
I like to let my skin breathe during a workout to protect against breakouts, so I skip foundation. I use concealer instead because it gives a bit of coverage and an “awake” look. Also, foundation is the most time-consuming step for me, so when I need a quick make up look, I also skip it and apply concealer in these 3 places.
Apply concealer:
- in a triangle shape starting by your inner eye, down the nose and out to the middle of the eye; I apply a smaller triangle/less product for this look because if you’re getting sweaty, concealer can get cakey, so less is more. I then pat with my finger, which I find allows the product to push into the skin best.
- a swipe down the middle of your nose
- 3 lines up and outward in the center of your forehead
this not only conceals but also gives a bit of dimension and contour to your face in a super simple way
PRODUCTS I LOVE:
- THIS concealer is my ride or die because it conceals everything; a little goes a long way so I apply it in dots as opposed to lines (I wear the shade fair neutral)
- THIS is a new favorite that gives a beautiful glowy conceal when I feel dull (I wear the shade 4 fair)
STEP 2: DEFINE THE BROWS
A structured brow gives a polished appearance to a quick make up look. I use my brow crayon or pencil to outline and then fill in the brows, using small little lines. I then use the opposite end of the tool, which is a brush to smudge together all the color and lines. I set the look with clear brow gel, which is essential for me and my wild brows.
PRODUCTS I LOVE:
THIS is the “brow crayon” I use – it’s an easier application and allows for more mistakes if you’re not great at brows like myself. You literally can’t screw it up.
THIS is the “brown pencil” I use when I want a more precise brow. The lines are finer. I advanced to this one when I became more confident with my brow skills.
THIS is the clear eyebrow gel that I swear by (1 tube literally lasts me almost a year!)
STEP 3: BRING COLOR TO THE FACE: BLUSH/BRONZER HACK
I have a hack using blush and bronzer that brings both color and life to the face. It’s a super quick way to achieve a sun-kissed look. Dab your make up brush in your bronzer and then in your blush. Apply in large circular motions along each cheekbone, swipe across the forehead, apply a light dusting on the nose, and swipe a tiny bit on your chin. Think about the spots on your face that would naturally get tan if you were out in the sun. The blush/bronzer combo gives such a beautiful, glowy color. My skin always looks alive after this step.

THIS is my favorite bronzer; it’s the most beautiful color. I used to buy drug store bronzers that I would have to apply lots of layers in order to achieve any color. This is so pigmented that a little goes a long way, so the tiny size has lasted me over a year!

STEP 4: LASHES LASHES LASHES
I am a total mascara/lashes girl, so I love this step. A swipe of lash primer followed by mascara. If you’ve been around for awhile, you know I am OBSESSED with a drugstore mascara and have used it for over a decade.

STEP 5: LIPS
The fifth and final step is a swipe of lip gloss that is the absolute best color ever. As soon as I discovered this gloss, I immediately went back out and purchased 3 additional tubes because it’s that good. It feels like butter on your lips. It’s smooth but not tacky. It also is hydrating, which I need because my lips tend to be dry. The color is natural yet it give a super pretty finish. You need this in your life!
