In the past month or so, my love for Pinterest peaked (you can find my Pinterest account here). I’m especially fond of the DIY/crafts section, but quite frankly my past DIY attempts have looked like a child’s art project. I do, however, love interior design and home decor, so I’ve decided to take a new approach: DIY details.
When it comes to big pieces of furniture, I invest and get things that qualified individuals (aka not me) created; I then apply my creative touch to the little details.
This weekend, I took a trip to Ikea and picked up this very generic utility car for only $29.
I’m a bit obsessed with anything gold, so, naturally, I opted for gold spray paint to transform the frame of this cart. I used Krylon gold foil metallic spray paint and finished it off with a clear acrylic gloss (I am by no means a spray paint expert. There may be better options, but this combination worked well for me).
I had a blank wall in a “walk-way” area between my living room and kitchen/dining space where I was looking for some sort of furniture piece, and thought a bar cart would be perfect and fun to accessorize. It turned out to be a fun and rather easy project!
I’m not much of a drinker other than celebratory champagne ((but let’s be real – I love to celebrate)) so my “bar cart” doesn’t consist of much booze as my sister pointed out – thanks, Sarah 😉
Now let’s talk details. I love using mason jars for vases, especially with roses (shabby chic meets glam – my favorite combination). To make these jars, I used painters tape, creating horizontal stripes of about 1 inch width, then spray painted the entire jar. It created such a cute look for a traditional jar.
It’s all in the details 🙂
I love it 😀
Super cute!
Nice job!
So cute!!
