This past week my (not so) little Leo turned one and we threw him a Very Hungry Caterpillar Themed 1st birthday party! Many people told me that as a parent, “the days are long but the years are short” and it’s so true. This past year went so quickly. Half of me wants to slow time down. The other half couldn’t be more proud of the independent, determined, go-getter, sweet as sugar boy that Leo is becoming and I can’t wait to continue to watch him grow.
When Leo was a newborn, he was gifted a hungry caterpillar “costume” for cute photos which became the inspiration behind the party. My graphic designer, Christina even included that photo I’m talking about on the invite. For Leo’s party I envisioned a bit of an elegant yet relaxed party so we decided to have it at our neighborhood clubhouse – they have a ballroom and I was all for not being in charge of food/clean up!
I will keep the chit chat to a minimum because I have so many photos I want to share. My friend and photographer Jennifer Mathews captured all of these amazing memories and thank goodness because I was so in the birthday moments I didn’t take a single picture at the party.
Also, I can’t wrap this up without sending a huge thank you to each of you. This past year, we’ve received countless messages, emails and comment of love, support and encouragement for Leo. He is the happiest little boy and clearly, so loved. Thank you for sharing that with him. It means more to us than I could ever begin to express.
Onto the party…
