#LGBeautyAndBooty Challenge: HIIT Cardio + Abs (W5D3)

It’s another one of those LG workouts where you’re questioning if you’re going to get through it; then, once you do, you feel as if you could take over the world! HIIT Cardio is so beneficial because it helps you burn more calories all day long. The important part is that during the “on” intervals, you’re working to almost max effort, and if you need longer than 90 seconds to recover, go ahead and take it so that you can kill that next interval.

WORKOUT NOTE: For Russian twists, those reps are 15 on each side…go slowly with these to really feel that core and obliques engage!

Workout Wednesday Tip: Yesterday, I was asked on the recent progress picture I posted on Instagram (( here )) if I train abs often. The answer: once per week, maybe two times if I’m good. This question raised an excellent point….one that many of us, especially my teenage self could have benefited from… when I was stuck in the days of doing 30 minutes ((yes, you read that correctly…30 MINUTES)) of ab exercises daily. You’ll love this part…I was never able to see a single ab lol. Anyways, the importance of this question is that ab exercises, such as sit ups and crunches aren’t the only type of abdominal training. You know those overhead squats that I’m always making you do?! I’m sure you’ve noticed by now the incredible amount of core strength it takes to simply keep yourself upright. In fact, my abs get more sore from 3 sets of overhead squats than they ever did after months of my 30 mins per day ab workouts haha. The point is that we can redefine ab workouts….it’s great to do ab isolating exercises, but if you’re doing the LG weight training workouts, you’re surely working those abs in many different ways several days per week!

Daily Challenge: Mid-week check in…remember that goal you set on Monday. Are you holding up to your end of the bargain so that you can reward yourself on Friday? If so, post 1 thing that’s worked for your and if not, reset that goal and post what you can do differently! #LGAccountability

Hey Lauren, I was wondering when you workout in the morning, do you eat first, workout and then have a protein shake right after or do you workout on an empty stomach and them eat after? I don't really know what is best to do. Thanks!!

    Hi Lauren,

I've been sick with the stomach flu for the past two days, is there any exercise you'd recommend doing on the days that you are recovering from an illness? Of course, if you're incredibly under the weather you shouldn't be working out. But would you recommend jumping into the next challenge set on that following day?

    Thanks,
    Lindsey
