For this week’s combo pack (meal plan & 5 workouts):
I’ve gotten the comment a lot that “because of you, I posted this progress picture.” Well, because of YOU, I’m posting this progress picture. There’s something incredibly powerful about posting a “before” picture or publicly declaring your goals. By sharing our goals, we can begin to help and support each other. As much as I love weight training, it’s a “sport” of aesthetics. So, as much as I have physical goals, many of my spring goals will be ones of 1) quicker sprint times 2) strength increases in staple weight-training movements and 3) more variety in my healthy recipes. Share your goals with me and your supporters #FBCalendarChallenge

Tip of the Day: Does muscle weight more than fat? Kind of, sort of, not really. Let’s answer that question in a bit of detail because it’s something I hear floating around and it’s a bit confusing. First off, I found weight training dramatically changed my body composition (skinny to fit), but the number on the scale actually increased for me; it took me awhile to be okay with that, but I don’t even own a scale now. Getting back to the question… muscle is actually more dense than fat. Therefore, it physically takes up less space than an equal weight of fat. Pictured is 5lbs of fat; if I were to hold 5lbs of muscle, it would be smaller in size. This is why I noticed my physical sized decrease even though the number on the scale increased.

Gaining weight was also hard for me to accept at first, it was hard to accept that the number on the scale was going up yet my clothes were fitting better and I looked better! Weight training has made me go up and down in weight but i have learned to accept that no matter what the number is on that scale I look amazing and the muscle keeps growing!
I'm glad there are so many of us that can relate! Body composition is everything!
U look fab! Love ur blog
Thank you!

I was just talking about fat vs. muscle yesterday! Everyone says muscle weighs more than fat but it doesn't. A pound is a pound. A pound of feathers will be more volume than a pound of steel but it is still a pound. Great visual!
Well said! I think it's so important that we all understand that!

This will probably sound so weird but.. am I the only one that cant stand the taste of leftover chicken? It tastes awful if I heat it up, and cold isnt too much better. Any tips on getting past this?
Try reheating in the oven if you haven't already. To me, it tastes like "new"
Yes I love that picture! Makes me feel so proud to have lost 15 pounds already seeing how much it actually is! Your blog was one which inspired me to get myself fit and come up with some kind of exercise/diet regime i could work with 🙂 I'd love it if you checked it out!

Lovely post and I enjoyed reading it though!! I think gaining weight is easier but when it comes to lose extra weight such type of blog post information quite inspires people to lose their weight. Keep up the good work.
