Ah, I had a wonderful weekend away from home. Fortunately, this time, I was able to stick to my usual meals and workouts 80% but that’s not always the case. Still, you won’t ever find me feeling guilty or upset if I missed workouts or ate a few unhealthy meals. If you’re in that spot, simply change your perspective. It took me awhile to do just that. Find satisfaction over the weekend you enjoyed and memories you made and look ahead to the wonderful week you WILL have!

Tip of the Day: Instead of traditional stretches before your workout, opt for dynamic stretches. Researchers go back and forth with whether static (traditional stretches such as hamstring and squat stretches) or dynamic stretches are more beneficial, but recent research is pointing to dynamic stretches. Dynamic stretches consist of a series of movements that are used to increase the core body temperature and to warm up muscles and joints. For instance, some dynamic stretches I include before a weight training workout include arm swings, leg kicks, high knees, jogging forward, jogging backward, etc. I typically spend around five minutes doing dynamic stretches before my workout.
