If you are looking to keep your kids busy, these toys and activities for toddlers have been huge hits in my home. A few items are tried and true toys my boys love. Others are new ones we’ve ordered that are keeping Leo busy. Also, I just wanted to share a tip I’ve found helpful for those making our old toys feel new.
HOW TO MAKE OLD TOYS FEEL NEW TIP:
When we decided to stay home this past week, I began organizing the toys. I took a good chunk of toys (that my boys love!) and put them away in a storage closet. First off, I was surprised to see them playing nicer with less toys available. Then, throughout the week, I’ve been rotating toys… bringing ones out of the closet and taking some of the current ones away. I find the boys are so excited to see the toys again that it makes playtime feel fresh and new.
MAGIC PEN DRAWING MAT (here)
Leo loves how big this is and that the “magic pen” is different than everything he is used to using
WATER BEADS – RAINBOW MIX (here)
the #1 item on this list that has kept Leo occupied for HOURS. Basically, these tiny bead grow into soft marbles that even I enjoy playing with. We keep them in large containers and Leo cannot get enough of them!
REUSABLE STICKER PADS (FOR BOYS) (here)
Leo is so into stickers and these are reusable (like window clings) so he can use them on his own to free up some of my time
REUSABLE STICKER PADS (FOR GIRLS) (here)
WATER REVEAL COLORING BOOK (3 PACK) (here)
I’ve always loved these and I particularly like the size
WATER STAMPS + BOOK (here)
This is just something fun and different for Leo
STACK AND SORT WORD PIECES BOARD (here)
My 1 year and and 2 1/2 year old love this so much and it’s probably the least expensive item on the list
COLOR MATCHING EGG SET (here)
I love toys that are fun at different ages. Beckham loves to take these apart and put them in the carton. Leo loves to match the colors and we even play matching games with these.
MEGA BLOCKS (here)
these aren’t new for us but such a classic and we play with them daily
WOODEN ACTIVITY CUBE (here)
my friend just dropped this gift off for Beckham’s birthday and both boys LOVE it! Beckham especially loves that he can stand up while playing. There are so many different things to do on each side.
PLAY-DOH + STORE TABLE (here)
My teacher friend told me that play-doh is great for Leo while he is out of school to work his hand muscles. We love play-doh but I never thought of it that way, so I thought a fresh set and a little table was a cute idea for him.
SIDEWALK CHALK (here)
I’ve become a sidewalk chalk snob… this stuff is the best because it glides on the concrete, making it easier for little ones to draw
SAND AND WATER TABLE (here)
This is a staple outdoor toy for littles but an idea we use is adding sand to make it less of a water mess and if it’s a bit too cold, we play with this in our garage.
SCOOTER (here)
I get a lot of questions on which scooter Leo uses and this is the exact one. I did a TON of research and this one seemed to top every list for toddler scooters. I think what sets this one apart is how it absorbs bumps and rocks and whatever else Leo drives over. We even let him bring this inside this week to play and it worked great on carpet!
NESTING AND SORTING GARAGES AND CARS (here)
A tried and true toy that my boys love… they’re great just for playing but now that Leo is a bit older, I love to talk about colors, numbers and relative sizes with him too.
