Daily Challenge: Fitness Goals – share with the community your top 3 fitness goals
Tip of the Day: Fitness goal setting can take on many shapes and form. I’ve narrowed fitness goal setting down to three main categories: physical, strength, and new, which I explain below.
(1) Physical Fitness Goals: these are the fitness goals you have based on how you want to look. My suggestion is for you to find images of your physical fitness goals to help you visualize your dream body. When you look good, you feel good and when you feel good, you look good! You deserve the body of your dreams, and it helps to know what that exactly looks like. Be very specific with this and as you find these images, start to make mental pictures of yourself possessing those features.
(2) Strength Fitness Goals: your workouts will take on an entirely new meaning when you set goals for strength, and I promise you will feel a surge of incentive to want to get to the gym. The movements I like to measure strength on are ones like leg press, squats, deadlifts, chest press, and pull downs since they’re compound movements, meaning they recruit more muscle groups. When it comes to strength goals, be sure to actually set them! For instance, I want to deadlift 2x my bodyweight. Then, record your progress week to week as to what amount you were able to complete and for what reps. Remember though to never sacrifice form for strength!
(3) New Fitness Goals: so, you’ve always wanted to try zumba? Have you ever considered using a waist trainer like the ones on this website: waistlinetrainer.com. Set that goal. Perhaps, you’re like me and want to master some yoga inversions and workout outside more often. Set that as a goal. New fitness goals are those that push you outside of your comfort zone. They keep fitness fun! As with all these goals, it’s very important to actually write them down in your phone or on paper and be very specific. Also, set a realistic timeline to meet these goals or they merely become a wish! Goals give us drive, which leads to accomplishment! What are your fitness goals?
