Bikini Body Series – Video Blog #1

Welcome to the FitnessBarbie bikini body series. I LOVE having goals to work towards – I find that when I fail to set short-term goals, I am more likely to get off track with my diet and find it more difficult to complete challenging workouts! With spring break, pool weather, and summer right around the corner, it is time to start thinking about that bikini body! Looking great in a bikini is just one aspect, but feeling confident in a bikini is really about what this bikini body series is all about! When you feel good, you look good and when you look good, you feel good.

I encourage you to grab your calendar and pinpoint a vacation, pool activity, break from school/work, or some event in which you can rock your bikini… identify that goal date to work toward! I love progress pictures, and although you may feel silly taking them, you’d be surprised how much they help you notice your results! Once you take your “before” picture, let’s start creating a plan. I’m going to assume that when most ladies think of their bikini body, their first thought will be the abs, a six pack, a tight waist, etc. What better way to kick off this bikini bodies series than with a killer ab circuit workout (one of my favorites). Keep in mind, there is no such thing as “toning” a muscle; abs are muscles (ie: rectus abdominis, obliques, serratus anterior, transverse abdominis) and working these ab muscles through exercise will BUILD them, but will not cause you to lose fat around the stomach area. Spot targeting, or performing exercises on a particular body area in order to lose weight there is a huge myth in fitness; in order to burn fat, diet, cardio, and weigh lifting are all required –  you can’t pick and chose places to lose weight as it is a systematic process! Still, ab exercises will sculpt those ab muscles so once that layer of fat is pealed away, a beautiful six pack will be revealed! You ALL have six packs… it’s just a matter of letting them be seen 🙂

    Hey there, im coming 18 and am average shape and weight for someone my age, so I was just wodering for how long and how frequently i would have to do these untill i get the abs i so deperatly desire!! 😉 x
