Q&A Monday – 11/12

Q&A Monday
Question: “You don’t seem to ever have a bad day, but if you do have one what do you do in order to get back on track?”

Answer: First off, I’m going to take that as a compliment because I truly don’t ever have a bad day. I selected this question because I think there are two major points to hit in this answer: 1) how to overcome a “bad day” and 2) how to ensure you don’t have bad days.

To begin with overcoming a bad day, I would first suggest looking into the underlying issue of why you’re having a bad day; sometimes we think, “oh I had a bad day because I ate poorly.” However, often times, the underlying factor as to why you ate poorly is because you did not have healthy food available in your kitchen or you did not pre-prepare your healthy food. Identifying the deeper issue of why you’re having a bad day can help you make a change in order to overcome this problem in the future. Also, the greatest suggestion I can give is to not let a bad day define you or consume you. Confession – I cannot eat out for meals other than my cheat meal because I always think it is cheating; because I do not know exactly what is going into my food, I feel like I am falling off my meal plan. This worry consumes me and could lead me down a path to having a bad day. Instead, I have learned to let go of worrying because it truly gets you nowhere. If you find yourself having a “bad day,” roll with it; start over in an hour, two hours, in the evening, or tomorrow. Every second is a new opportunity to change it all around.

Secondly, and in my opinion, more importantly is how to prevent having a bad day. To the individual who asked this question – you’re probably right, I do not have bad days; I do have bad moments or a bad hour, but very rarely is my entire day ruined. For instance, I’m sure many of you would not know that my great grandma passed away a few days ago and today I attended her funeral; while even death is an incredible devastation, I can continue moving forward. I accredit a lot of this to drawing happiness from multiple sources. You cannot just depend on a workout/healthy eating to make or break your day. For instance, my school work, my job, my boyfriend, my family, my friends, this blog, my followers, working out, cooking, my diet, etc all provide sources of happiness; if one falters, I turn to another and put more effort and energy into it. Let’s say you missed a workout and ate junk food all afternoon; turn it around… go to the grocery store, buy all sorts of healthy food and create a recipe for a healthy meal. There, something positive just came from your gluttonous day! Also, surrounding yourself with good, positive, uplifting people can be a huge factor is your happiness and health and fitness success. Now it is time to love yourself, love those around you, love your health and fitness, and BE HAPPY! When you can do all the above without even thinking about it, bad days will won’t be able to find you!

To sum it up:
1. Identify underlying issues to your bad day
2. Make a change based on that identification to prevent it in the future
3. Let go of a bad day; accept it and move on
4. Find as many sources of happiness as you can
5. Surround yourself with positive and uplifting individuals
6. Be happy and bad days will become rare

I hope you guys enjoyed this Monday’s Q&A! To preview some future questions – “what do you eat on a daily basis,” “how often do you do cardio/weight training to achieve your look and how much would you suggest for me,” and “how often can I have cheat meals without it hurting my results.” Which question do you think I will pick next Monday?!
