Tip of the Day: It’s tasty Tuesday…I know you’re going to absolutely love the Zucchini Ravioli, but I also want you to know why you and your body are going to love it so much. As you’ll read, my desire to create this recipe came from feeling a bit yucky on vacation after eating a bit too much processed and refined food items. I had a bloated belly and an uncomfortable feeling in my lower abdomen. Why?? First off, the term “processed food” is a little bit overdone ((we can understand that almost all foods require some process… apples are cut from trees, for example)), but when I use it, I’m referring to foods that are chemically processed by adding in refined ingredients and artificial compounds. Refined, simple carbohydrates, such as some pastas and breads are quickly digested within the body, causing quick spikes in blood sugar and insulin. Have you ever experienced additional cravings a few hours after a treat ((is that even really a question lol)) Many of us have and that’s the result when our blood sugar levels drop…it’s also known as the blood sugar roller coaster. This can lead to chronic disease and contributes to highs and lows in energy levels. The best types of carbohydrates are those that come from real, wholesome food items!
